For anyone that coaches clients in the real world, you know that food label missunderstandings are huge.
I'd go so far as to say that food labels are deliberately misleading.
I've already gotten some feedback from other trainers like "People shouldn't be eating things out of boxes anyway!" And ok, sure. In a perfect world, everyone would make their own greek yogurt and dehydrate their own granola.
The reality is, for the people that are trying to lose "The Stubborn Seven Pounds", this will probably have no impact, because they've already figured all this stuff out, and are probably preparing most of their food themselves already.
For the people who are trying to lose 40 pounds, this is huge. It will be tremendously mind expanding for people to see this much clarity in food labels.
WASHINGTON (AP) — Ice cream lovers beware: The government knows you're unlikely to stop after half a cup.
New nutrition labels proposed Thursday for many popular foods, including ice cream, aim to more accurately reflect what people actually eat. And the proposal would make calorie counts on labels more prominent, too, reflecting that nutritionists now focus more on calories than fat.
For the first time, labels also would be required to list any sugars that are added by manufacturers.
In one example of the change, the estimated serving size for ice cream would jump from a half cup to a cup, so the calorie listing on the label would double as well.
