So, I’m going to give you ultimate secret of the One by One Nutrition Coaching Group. Honestly, this is the ultimate reason why my coaching group members get better results than most people who are trying to lean up and lose fat.
I can totally give away the secret, because I know most people just won’t do it. Seriously – all of the trainers and coaches reading this are totally going to steal is and use it with their clients (they actually probably do a version of this already), they’ll immediately know it’s the gold.
And yet, most everyone else reading this will think it’s a nice idea, do nothing with it, and forget.
The real secrets to fat loss seem almost always seem unbelievably simple – simple and obvious to the point of being dismissed. Again, proof that knowing what to do makes no difference. I can’t emphasize enough, it’s the repeated doing of them that makes the difference.
That’s the funny thing about coaching – I can give away all of the secrets and the coaching group loses no value. That’s the reason people join coaching groups is because that has them do the secrets.
With no further ado, here is the secret of food habit success and fat loss results:
Some people might notice that as being like a really simplified OODA Loop or Boyd’s Loop. It’s the same idea: We observe and orient in the reflection, then we decide on a habit plan, then act on that habit plan, and then repeat the cycle until we hit our goals.
There are two magical things that happen inside of repeating this cycle for a few months:
1.) People get about 1000x better at food habits (by better habit planning, meaningful habit practice and learning from that practice).
2.) People get better at setting up a habit plan related to the next seven days of their actual life, and not some fantasy perfect scenario life that they don’t actually live in.
3.) Practicing the habits in a deep and meaningful way, that has them learn about the habits, their life, and what works for them, becomes a primary objective. This is the actual work required for fat loss, that most people never do.
How Most People Fail Repeatedly:
Most people do the opposite of this: They look at a bunch of food habits or diet, imagine a perfect life that those would all immediately fit into, and then ram too many and too much of the food habits into an imperfect life that they don’t fit into. Then they fail. When they fail, they make sweeping decisions about themselves, fat loss, their life, ect.
It’s one of those things where you start to see that almost everyone is setting themselves up to fail at every level:
- They take on too much
- They don’t take their own lives into account
- They don’t ever reflect on what they learned
Reflection is The Magic
The part where you — weekly — reflect on what you learned is where things get really cool!
You start to see what’s working, what isn’t working, and how you can better (more intelligently) set up the next week’s practice to fit into real life.
This is how we create a cycle of learning, where you get better at your food habits every week. It’s reliable, repeatable, and creates upward spiral to food habit success and fat loss results.
With Other People
I strongly recommend you do this with someone else. A coach, a group, a friend, a spouse. Just, as often as possible, try to do this with another actual human.
Things sound way different in our own heads than they do talking to someone else. If you’ve ever talked with someone else about a problem you were having, and all of a sudden it got a lot better because you talked ot them, you understand what I’m saying.
Which also brings up:
- If you have friends who, when you talk to them, problems get better — that’s the kind of person to talk through your weekly plan with.
- If you have friends who, when you talk to them, problems get more stuck — DON’T talk to them about your weekly habit plan!
If someone is judgmental or complaining oriented, they’ll make your plan worse. This is the kind of person who helps you create a downward food habit failure cycle.
You need to be talking through your food habit plan with the kinds of people who have empathy and are solution oriented. This is the kind of person who helps you create an upward food habit success cycle.
The Doing Of It
So I know I built up the beginning quite a bit, in an intention to have you take this seriously and actually do it. It’s actually a cycle that’s worth repeating for anything that matters to you — food habits being what we’re focused on here.
Of course, if you need a coach and a small group to reflect about your food habits with — as a structure to do this repeatedly until you hit your goal, the One by One Nutrition Coaching Group is designed for that.
That being said, you really could do this with your own personal trainer, your best friend, your spouse, whoever is going to believe in you and your goals, and is willing to look at your weekly plan objectively.
So go forth and reflect, and learn! Build more food habit skills! And then, inside of building your food habit skills, you can actually hit any fat loss or fitness goal you have.
