#1 Fat Loss Tip

Sr. RKC (Kettlebell Instructor) Dave Whitley grabbed me out of the blue and asked me for my #1 Fat Loss Tip at the Ryan Lee Bootcamp.

This video is the first thing I thought of – the first thing I always think of when people ask me any of these questions:

What can I do to dramatically increase my fat loss results?

What do I really need to do to get abs?

My workouts aren't getting me the results I want, what do I need to do to fix them?

Now this isn't the be all end all of fat loss results.

Unless it is.

If your workouts are right, it's always the food that needs to get fixed.  You can't fix it if you don't log it.

If you aren't keeping a food log, it's probably the food and you just don't really know, because you aren't logging it.

On the flipside – if the food is right, then it's gotta be the workouts.

Crazy as it sounds, it actually is this simple.

Just wanted to thank you for this. I take 2 medications that increase my appetite. I’ve gained 37 lbs in 2 years. Went to the doctor yesterday and he said stuff I didn’t want to hear…”Yes, the meds increase your appetite, but you, just let everyone else in the world, gain weight for 2 reasons: you don’t execise enough or you eat too much.” I was mad, because he was right. I’m a workout fiend, full of muscle…but eat too much. You’re post was just what I needed. Thanks and keep them coming!

i’m a personal trainer in Nashville, TN. I’m new to kb’s but am very interested in them.

on another note, i have to say that i don’t quite think it’s ALWAYS as simple as calories in calories out. SHOULD it be that simple? sure, ideally…if everyone’s biochemistry was perfect.

What would you tell the person suffering from adrenal fatigue or (albeit overdiagnosed) hypothyroidism or some other physiological factor that makes fat loss more of a challenge?

I’ve seen you mention the “calories in calories out” thing several times, and just finally decided to ask your thoughts about those other issues! lol.

    Hey Heather!

Totally sucks to be on meds that make you hungry. Try taking 5 Fish Oil caps before every meal, and having some salad for “desert”. See if that doesn’t make you feel more full.

    Jeffrey!

You’re totally right, not always as simple as cals in vs. cals out… but it’s a great place to start. Prob the best place to start.

One of my clients did an experiment where she hit her calories perfect, but it was all Taco Bell, wine, and M&M’s. No joke, 30 day test. Big surprise, she didnt’ get leaner!

I think quality of food is important.

    I think sleep is important.

Hormonal issues are largely irrelevant – ok so your Thyroid slows down your metabolism by 200 calories per day… it doesn’t change the game we’re playing.

It’s still calories in vs. calories out, it’s just a little harder for you.

Same thing as the girl everyone knows that can eat anything. She’s got it easier… So what?

    Doesn’t change the game.

Everyone has a unique and personal game, but the rules are mostly the same – quality, calories, ect.

    Good question!

    Jeffrey,

Dave Whitley gets my highest recommendation. If I lived in Nashville, I’d be hiring Dave as my trainer.
