Video: Floor Wipers from the 300 Workout

Thanks to Stevan for demonstrating.

Floor wipers have to be the most asked about exercise in the gym lately.  Here it is: Floor wipers 101.

I spelled ‘originally’ wrong in the video.  But it’s gotten 526,231 views already, so I’m just leaving it.

This may be a dumb question, but is the 50x KB clean & press in the 300 Challenge fifty reps with one arm, twenty-five reps with each arm or fifty reps with both arms?

RE: “why are you so small” – Jimmy

If you’re asking me why I’m so small if I love fitness so much, then what I’m “doing wrong” is not eating enough calories.

It may be shocking Jimmy, but getting big actually isn’t my number one goal. My biggest concern usually is strength. I’ll give you an idea of the kind of stuff I work on:

I recently knocked off 9 pistols in a row each leg. If you don’t know what a pistol is, it’s a one legged squat where you go ass to ankles:

    http://www.beastskills.com/pistol.htm

and I did a pistol each leg holding a 53lb kettlebell.

I can do 20 kipping pullups, and I can do a couple strict – bar to chest – pullups with 53lbs tied to me.

My PR for handstand pushups is 5 in a row.

    I can one-arm-snatch a 53lb kettlebell 100 times in about seven minutes.

I’m not running much anymore, but at one point I ran a 4:22 mile.

During the 50 wipers, do you count 1 each time your feet touch a plate or does a left to right cycle equal 1?

I was also wondering about the floor wiper reps – count once each time you bring your legs to a plate or once for a full left to right?

“Keeping his legs straight, Butler touches his feet to one plate, lowers them to the floor in the center, and then raises them up to touch the other plate.” That’s one repetition.”

    hope this helps

OK, the floor wipers issue is solved for me now. On the 50 One Arm Clean and Presses- is it 50 per arm? So do I do 50 with the right and then 50 with the left or 25 of each to total 50?

Did it today but only did 25 floor wipers and 25 clean and press each arm. Posted a 16:06 doing it that way. Seemed way low, so I need to add 25 more full floor wipers and I bet 25 more clean and presses per arm.

Great blog, I couldn’t agree more with your philosophy.

Thanks for posting that Josh. I’d like to see (and I’m sure I’m not the only one) demonstrations of all the Gym Jones exercises with odd names or that aren’t self explanatory. For example 1RM Get-Up, Burpee, Farmer Drag, and all the stuff with just acronyms like GHD Press, KBGM..That is if you’ve got the time. Thanks for everything youve done already man.
