It’s pretty awesome for kettlebell lifting and strength training workouts also.
The Onitsuka Tai Chi is a martial arts shoe that offers exceptional movement.
The amount of movement that the Tai Chi makes available makes it awesome for kettlebell lifting, strength training, “barefoot” running, and any sport where balance and body awareness is an important.
And it comes in other colors besides yellow
This is of course the official swordfighting shoe of Beatrix “Black Mamba” Kiddo, aka “The Bride” in Kill Bill. So if you’re a hot sword fighting assissin who’s been double crossed by your supervillain lover, this shoe is a slam dunk for you.
More Information = Better Ninja
My clients wear shoes like this because they know that the more information their feet get from the ground, and the more movement their feet are allowed – then the better body control and body awareness they will have in their fat loss workouts.
= More Control and Body Awareness Better Control and Better Body Awareness = Significantly Better WorkoutsBetter Workouts = Leaner, Hotter, More Rockstar Body
It’s right up there with our other favorite A+ Workout Shoes:
The Puma Saloh is also an awesome workout shoe
because it allows for lots of movement, and it’s flat to the ground
Puma’s are kind of oldschool-retro.
So if you’re more the retro kung fu 70’s supervillian mastermind with a truth serum shooting dart-gun in one hand and a hanzo samurai sword in the other – then I recommend the Puma Saloh.
The Vibram FiveFingers is the ultimate movement shoe.
If you’ve got the balls to wear the VFFs
you’ll be shocked at how much stronger, more balanced,
more graceful, and more powerful you are after wearing them for a month.
It’s a good choice if you’re an ancient kung fu master with a long wispy beard and a maniacal laugh, then the Vibram Five Fingers might be just the shoe – especially if you want to bust a Five Point Palm Exploding Heart Technique with your feet.
The ultimate workout shoe is of course bare feet. But these three option often look cooler. And many gyms require you to wear shoes.
Even If You Aren’t A Ninja…
So if you’re a hardcore workout girl or guy who wants every edge to get leaner…
Or if you are a ninja with a samurai sword in a yellow jumpsuit…
Then it’s time to upgrade your footware.

Hey Josh, I had an severe knee injury a few months ago and I recently went to the doctor’s to check it out. They referred me to physiotherapy and I was instructed not to do squats or lunges until my knee healed (around 6 to 8 weeks). I know you are into full body movements in order to get in shape. How would you change a workout routine if you can no longer do those exercises? I want to get in shape for a vacation coming up in May and unfortunately I can’t continue physiotherapy because I go to school outside the country. All I have are these exercises to strengthen my knee. Got any suggestions?

I am a big fan of the squats and lunges, but they aren’t the end all be all.
You can still do upper body pushing and pulling. You can do circuits of pullups, pushups, rows, ect.
You can also swim intervals, which is AWESOME.
And make sure to keep up with all of your knee strengthening exercises that the doc and pt gave you – getting your knee healthy is #1 priority.
Also – lots of times you can do romanian deadlifts (and sometimes even kettlebell swings) before you can do squats again. DEFINITELY you would have to check with your doc and pt first though.
Just make sure to BE PATIENT and do EVERYTHING THE DOC SAYS. 6-8 weeks in the grand scheme of things is pretty quick.
