Teemo is a really, really slick fitness app that just came out, and is totally free. (that means you should download it.)
It's basically designed to have you get in little mini-workout bursts all of the time.
It's set up for you to be able to do bodyweight workout intervals, anywhere, at any time. It's got great video exercise demos (which I consulted on) and it has a cool interval timer.
Every challenge is a string of mini-workout-burst-intervals (like two minutes each), and as you complete them, you move through the challenge.
It's sort of like The Legend Of Zelda, but with burpees and pushups instead of monsters to fight.
And it has three levels Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced – each with appropriate levels of each exercise. For example, beginner pushups are knee pushups, intermediate are from the toes, and advanced are "archer" pushups (which are pretty freakin' hard!)
You can do the challenges with your friends, which is why it's called Teemo… like Team-o. Like Neat-o. Ok, so I made that last part up.
So you can do it with your friends, or you can fly solo – either way you get really killer intervals that you can do once in a while or a couple times per day.
Who Teemo Is For
Teemo is great for a couple different kinds of people:
1.) Someone who is super-motivated, and wants to add some intervals throughout the day to kick their current workout program up a huge level
2.) Someone who goes through periods of working out on a regular program, but also has times when they get busy, and would like some short-burst workout intervals they could do when they don't have time to do a full workout.
3.) Someone who has trouble sticking to a regular workout program, but could get in some short burst mini workout intervals.
By the way, I coined that convoluted term short-burst-mini-workout-intervals. Teemo just says "Making Working Out Fun!"
The Making of Teemo and Where I Come In
There was a huge long amazing development process for Teemo.
And the original exercises were selected by my friend Kiera Newton, Senior RKC, who you've seen on this blog before teaching swings and snatches.
I was brought in later to be the on-set exercise consultant.
We shot all of the video exercise demos at Warren Miller Studios in Boulder, which was awesome. Super, super fun place to work. And of course besides being fun, everyone there was also amazing at what they did.
It's a fun app, and I was really stoked to get to work on something that came out that amazingly cool looking!
Big thanks to Megan Miller for being the awesomeness that she is making that project happen, and bringing me on board to help with the shoot.
You can check it out at http://goteemo.com/ and get it in iPhone app store.
