First off, I have to say that I absolultey love Jennifer Lawrence…  I love all of her movies, she’s now an Academy Award Winner, and of course – why we are writing about her on a fat loss blog – she’s got an absolultely amazingly fit body.

And lately, FitPerez reports that she’d punch anyone in the face who says they like working out.  Which is fine, I’m cool with that.

“I hate saying, ‘I like exercising.’ I want to punch people who say that in the face. But it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It’s like, ‘Here’s your trainer. This is what you can eat.’ “

Some people love working out, for other people it’s like doing taxes – you do it just because you have to.  Even though most days I love working out, I still have plenty of days when I don’t want to either, I totally get that.

What I want to talk about is the next thing she said:

“I don’t diet. I do exercise! But I don’t diet. You can’t work when you’re hungry, you know?”

Wait, wait, wait…

I think this is a matter of semantics, but I have to point it out because people bring this kind of stuff to me all of the time – “XYZ celebrity says they don’t diet!”

In the quote above, Jennifer Lawrence says that it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they lay out her workouts and what she can eat for her.  In essence, they’re giving her a meal plan.  And you can tell just looking at her body that she eats quality food.

Is it possible that in Los Angeles, “being on a diet” is interchangeable with “I’m starving myself”?

Lets assume that’s what she means, and go from there:

1.) It’s cool that she doesn’t starve herself.

2.) It’s just as cool that she eats the quality and quantity of food that has her look bangin’

Starving yourself is obviously not effective long term.  And I actualy do get the feeling that it’s fairly common practice in Hollywood.  So, given that context, it would make sense that she says she “isn’t on a starvation diet”.

She talks about not being able to work out if you are starving.  Legit.  In fact, inside of that you could look at your food as fuel for your workouts.  And that’s another very healthy context for eating.  I think it’s pretty safe to say that fuel for your workouts would be protein and high quality carbs and fats.

I just want everyone to look past the headlines and the face value of these celebrity quotes, and see that – for most celebrities – they have to deal with the same things we do:

it’s nice being in shape for a movie, because they basically do it all for you. It’s like, ‘Here’s your trainer. This is what you can eat.’ “

We all have to workout and eat right.
