We live in a world where we believe that more information = better results.
We think we know what information we need, and then we seek out and consume as much of that information as possible.
In fact, the problem is that we think we know what it is that we need to learn.
Copernicus' Fat Loss Secret
Copernicus was a pretty smart dude, and he can teach us a lot about why more fat loss information is a bad idea.
It's simple, up until Copernicus, Astronomy was the study of how the stars, planets, and sun, revolved around the Earth.
Astronomers were constantly collecting more and more information about the universe revolving around the Earth.
And they kept getting all these wacky results!
However the planets were moving around the Earth, it surely wasn't in a circle.
Ask The Wrong Question –
Even If You Get The Answer, You're No Closer to Your Goal
So this Copernicus dude comes along… and he's like "Hey Astronomy dudes, what if the Earth is revolving around the sun?"
And the astronomer dudes were like, "No way!"
And then Galileo said "I got your back man!" and was all to the astronomer dudes, "Way!"
And the astronomer dudes were like, "No way!"
And Galileo was like, "Really, really, really way," then, "No really dudes, way."
And they were all like "Whoaaaaaaa! Galileo bro, that totally explains everything!"
Ok, so this is partially simplified. My apologies to anyone who is a student of history or astronomy. But the part where they all talked like Bill and Ted was totally accurate.

What Questions Are You Asking?
If you are asking the wrong questions, you are going to get the wrong answers.
For example – if your question is "Which cardio machine burns the most calories."
You may get the answer to your question, but because you asked the wrong question, you haven't learned anything that will get you closer to your goals.
Ok, so that's an easy one – what if it's more interesting than that?
What if your question is: "Is quality of food or quantity of food more important for fat loss?"
On the surface, this is a great, timeless fat loss question. But we don't know if that's the issue that YOU need to be working on for fat loss.
What if for you, the issue is calorie amnesia?
What if for you the issue is you aren't eating any protein?
What if you know exactly what to eat already, but you are having trouble doing it in real life?
Then no matter how great an answer you get, it won't make a difference for your goals if it's too the wrong question.
Take A Look At The Things You Are Most Sure About
I went to Brazil to learn a bunch more about Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. What I found out was that it wasn't that I needed to learn more, it's that the things I thought I knew were wrong.
So today, instead of adding to your fat loss knowledge, take a look at the things that you are sure about, about fat loss.
Re-examine if there could be flaws in the beliefs that you hold most dear about what makes workouts work and what makes diet works.
More often than not, the opportunity to create breakthrough results comes not from learning something new, but from correcting or mastering something we already know.
