Ok, so I’ve gotten a lot of questions lately after I sort of resurfaced and started posting to the blog again, so I’ll hit ’em all back right now
Where Have the Blog Posts Been?
Oh man, I did an internship with Results Fitness (Alwyn and Rachel Cosgroves gym) in California, then I got a book deal with OnTarget Publications (they do Dan John‘s books and Gray Cook‘s books, among a gazillion great DVDs also), I spent almost a year in California in my hometown (Morro Bay) writing and editing the book, then I bought a personal training business in Denver (PowerHour Group Personal Training).
In the midst of all of that craziness, the blog kinda got left behind for a year…
What’s Up With The Book?
Oh man, so much!
So here’s the skinny, if you haven’t heard so far: It’s called Fat Loss Happens on Monday, and my co-author is the legendary strength coach and best selling author Dan John. He’s my favorite fitness author to read, so getting to write a book with him was one of the most amazing opportunities of my lifetime. As it stands, I think I wrote about 3/4 of the chapters, and he wrote 1/4, but he also really cut the project down to what mattered — he had me go deep on the stuff that mattered and throw out the stuff that didn’t matter. His direction, and his pushing (literally for years), are the only reason that this book happened.
The foreword is by the amazing celebrity training Valerie Waters. She is such a fat loss genius, and such a wealth of information, that just from the foreword alone you’re going to get life changing fat loss content. You may know her from creating the Valslide, and also from the results she’s gotten her amazing celebrity clients.
So it took about nine months to write the book, which was heavily adapted from another book I had written. Again, cutting most of it, and going deep on the few points that mattered. Right now it’s getting designed and typeset. There’s a chance it could be out as soon as October.
And Back Personal Training in Denver Again!
So I purchased PowerHour Elite Performance from a previous client of mine, Scott Stransky. I renamed it PowerHour Group Personal Training, as I really want to emphasize the personal training element, and focus on attention, service, and getting people wicked fat loss results.
On top of the group personal training (4 people at once, they all have programs and we track every set, rep, and kettlebell weight), we’re also launching a group nutrition coaching program with some help from the nutrition habits genius that is Coach Steve-o.
I’ve been back on the gym floor with in-person clients for about two months now, and — as much as I liked writing fulltime — it’s good to be home.
So That’s The Update!
Thanks for everyone who asked and wanted to know and cared what I’m up to =)
Also, just my own personal fitness, I’ve been doing GMB Fitness’ Parallettes One program, and I just started month 4 (level b workouts), and I started rock climbing, which has always been on my bucket list (so far mostly in Boulder Canyon and at North Table Mountain.
