If you’re in Colorado, I’d love for you to come out and do the Heart Walk with us.
It’s a four mile walk on Saturday, June 4rth, to raise money for the American Heart Association. You don’t actually have to raise any money or donate any money to come out and do the walk. You can come out and support the walk just by being there. And of course you can donate also.
What I think is really amazing about the American Heart Association is that they set this really bold goal in 1999 to reduce coronary heart disease, stroke and risk by 25 percent by 2010. They actually achieved the reduction in deaths ahead of schedule and made substantial progress against three of the six risk factors.
Now looking ahead to 2020, The American Heart Association is looking beyond helping people reduce their risk of heart disease and stroke by focusing on helping them build stronger health and a better quality of life.
Just a quick trip through the “Get Healthy” section of the American Heart Association’s website has all kinds of great educational resources. I especially like the part on making a healthy home for your kids.

And that’s part of the span of their work – everything from better patient care in hospitals to more education at schools and for parents.
Their clear about their goal, and they’re attacking it from all angles. The American Heart Association’s current goal:
By 2020, to improve the cardiovascular health of all Americans by 20 percent while reducing deaths from cardiovascular disease and stroke by 20 percent.
It would be great if you came out and walked with us! It’s a great cause, and we’d get to hang out!

If you want to know why the team page talks so much about DCP Midstream: Tom O’Connor, the President and CEO of DCP is the Chair Person for The Denver Heart Walk and the top fundraiser, and my wife Lais works for DCP so I’m on the same team she is!
