There Are Five Reasons People Fail at Fat Loss

Bigstock-new-year-s-fitness-resolutions-82655882

  1. Bad nutrition plan
  2. Bad workout plan
  3. No support
  4. No accountability
  5. No coaching

The Popular Two

So the first one is a bad nutrition plan.

This is any plan that's short term, extreme, diet or elimination based.  What we want is a plan that's long term and habit based.

Next one is a bad workout plan

This is actually pretty similar to the bad nutrition plan: If it isn't long term, don't even bother.  Scratch that — if it isn't life-long, don't even bother.

You want something reasonable, that you can keep doing for at least the foreseeable next few years.

Fixing the first two is easy

That's why I wrote Fat Loss Happens on Monday — so people would have a progressive, habit-based nutrition program, and a reasonable, long term workout program.  You know, the stuff that actually works for normal people.

The Forgotten Three

Most people spend their entire lives switching workout for workout, or nutrition plan for nutrition plan, when that wasn't the issue that was really holding them back.

 No support, accountability, or coaching

This is where most programs drop the ball.  In truth, most people aren't hard-core fitness do-it-yourself-ers.  Most people will need coaching at times.

If you look at teams in any sport, they win because they have a coach, and because they have a team.  Take any of the players away from their team or their coach, and they're never going to be as effective alone.  Fat loss is the same way — people make habit changes much more easily with coaching and with a "team" or group.

There are Three Kinds of People in Fitness

  1. Hardcore do-it-yourself-ers
  2. People who need coaching and accountability all the time
  3. People who can do-it-themselves sometimes and need coaching, support, and accountability other times

For the hardcore do-it-yourself-ers: You can just get my book Fat Loss Happens on Monday, and do it, and get all the results you need.

For the people who need coaching and accountability: Get coaching and accountability and get all the results you need.

Contrary to popular belief, most people actually fall into the third category (myself included).  A lot of the time, you can do-it-yourself.  Your workouts are fine, and you've got some nutrition habits that you do well and others that are tougher.  Essentially, you maintain well.

Other times, when you want to create some new results, you need some extra support, accountability, and coaching.  Just enough to get you to that next level.  And that's different for everyone.  Some people might need coaching for a month, some three months, some nine months.  However much you need is specific to you, and you get to choose what's "just enough" to get you to that next level of leanness or strength and fitness.

Get What You Need, Nothing More

Regardless of which one you are at — get what you need when you need it.

Right now you might be rocking — getting results every week.  Hint: Don't change anything!

But if you aren't getting the results you want:

You may just need a better plan.
(I like my book, of course Fat Loss Happens on Monday)

Or you may need coaching, support, and accountability.
(again, I'm partial to the program I created for you, The Rockstar Coaching Group)

But there are lots of book, and lots of coaches.  Find someone you like, and get whatever you need, at the times you need it.
