Dan John!!!
I was holding back for a while to create suspense!
I've often said that getting quoted by Dan John in his books and DVDs is a bigger endorsement to me than getting the national newspapers and magazines. I don't know anyone that's more universally liked and respected in this industry than Dan.
So getting to write a book with him has been the biggest honor of my career. It's still so amazing it's a little hard to wrap my head around.
Dan contributed five really unbelievably amazing chapters. On top of that, my part originally came from System Six, which came out of a conversation with Dan. And then this book was Dan saying: "This is the important part, write more about that and throw away the rest"
And so the upcoming book is like taking one most important part from System Six, going 450 pages deep on that, and throwing away the rest.
On top of that, also by Dan's suggestion, it has a completely updated version of The Stubborn Seven Pounds included. Updated isn't entirely the right word – it's been totally expanded and re-written, based on what I've learned in the decade since I wrote it. Maybe "inspired by" is a better term.
So the new book, Fat Loss Happens on Monday, is like the best of everything I've ever done, completely upgraded, and directed by Dan, one of the smartest guys in the entire fitness industry.
It's funny – because I've always read Dan's writing thinking "I will never be able to write that well." And I probably won't! But to get to work with Dan on a book is even better! One of the chapters he sent me totally floored me. I was like "I can't believe I get to write stuff in the same book as this!"
Here are the updates on the book itself:
The final re-writes and edits have all been finished. Now it needs to be typeset and the cover art and all of that stuff.
Probably will be out in September, 2014, from OnTarget Publications!
Get excited!
In the meantime, if you haven't read Dan's Never Let Go or Interventions, they're both must reads in strength and conditioning. If you're a trainer, coach, or instructor, really they're mandatory. Interventions is the "do this" book, where Never Let Go is the philosophy/realism book.
