Ok, I'm a big fan of Açai. In fact, I was totally addicted to Açai when I lived in Brazil. I love the stuff.
I even wrote about my favorite Açai/Egg-white protein shake a few months back – My Favorite Breakfast
You could call Açai a "superfood" because it has lots of anti-oxidants and stuff. (You could also say the same thing about oranges.)
But it's no magic fat loss pill.
And Oprah never said it was. She said it was a superfood.
It's the scam artist supplement companies that are latching on to the fact that Açai was on Oprah, they're saying that it's a diet miracle.
There's no connection. It's totally made up.
In fact, my family in Brazil would will probably be rolling on the floor laughing when I show them this. In Brazil, Açai is about as exotic as strawberries are here.
The Açai Berry Diet falls into the same category as all of the green tea fat loss pills – Green tea is great for you, but it doesn't produce magic fat loss.
Tomorrow I'm going to write about 4 SMART ways to crank up your metabolism. I'll give you a hit: You can't buy them at the supplement store.

Josh News: I Started A Kettlebell Bootcamp Class!
Sorry I haven't been really up on the Josh News lately. I've been busy!
Starting a kettlebell class is really fun and new. In reality, for being an RKC, I'm still very much a "gym trainer". We do a ton of kettlebell swings (and occasionally kettlebell snatches), but we do mostly dumbbell and barbell work for pushing, pulling and squatting. So it's wicked fun now to do a whole class with just kettlebells.
Do you guys remember The 12 Days of Fitness giant fitness give-away from last year? It's back! =) www.12daysoffitness.com. This year I'm giving away 7 Wicked Fast Fat Loss Workouts, and there are 250 other trainers giving away a ton of cool stuff also!
I haven't re-tested myself for the pullup contest yet. But my +16lb weighted pullups have gone from 4 to 8, so I think I'm going to rock it. (I wrote this post a week or two ago – I have re-tested by now, and I'll share the results later this week!)

Yeah, it’s amazing how someone says something has healthy benefits and suddenly it’s the magic pill. Well guess what? Eating healthy and exercising has benefits. -How come that one hasn’t become a magic pill? Oh cause you have to work for it. 🙂

i agree with ashley! i actually clicked on one of those banners for the super amazing acai diet that has helped oprah and rachael ray lose the lbs. i know it is full of crap, but i wanted to check it out. some of them actually show the oprah/dr oz clip talking about acai. like you said, they never say one thing about weight loss. as a matter of fact, on the rachael ray show, she acted as if she didn’t like it when she drank it. hahaha! ok, no i have to talk my gym into doing kettle bell classes too!

acai is a superfood, and shouldnt be lumped in with oranges. its loaded with more anti oxidants thank blueberries, contains amino acids and omega 3 and 6. its awesome for the body, it can boost your metabolism so maybe thats where these diet people are getting people to buy it. who knows. but acai does more than an orange

Thanks Josh for setting the record straight. I was getting a little tired of fitness pros trying to be edgy and blaming Oprah for the Acai diet miracle situation.
It’s ironic that the same people who slam others for being taken in by these marketers have themselves been taken in, just by a different lie.
